I spent a couple of hours at Ocmulgee Monument this morning after the rains last night. Even though I didn't get there till 11:15, there was still bird activity everywhere! White-throated Sparrows hopping about on the trails, Yellow-rumped Warblers flitting and chipping everywhere, Robins by the dozens, and lots of singing from all kinds of birds! It was a particularly good day for sparrows: Eastern Towhees, Song Sparrows, White-throated Sparrows, a Field Sparrow, and a Swamp Sparrow all were down in the pond vicinity.
And it was a woodpecker smash day! I had Red-Bellied, Northern Flicker, Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, Red-headed, Pileated, Downy, and Hairy.
The Rusty Blackbirds that have been hanging around all winter were still there. Here's a video of one of the Rusty Blackbirds singing in a tree on the trail right by the pond:
