The Chimney Swift migration spectacular should be picking up in the next day or two! I went to stake out my favorite chimney tonight and saw about 370 swifts. Last year I had 1200 on March 30 and 1480 on April 1. So the next couple of days could be amazing, as more come through from Peru!

Awesome video Anne! Was this last years migration or today?

That was tonight! They were gathering by about 8:00, circling soon after, and entered the chimney at 8:16. All were in by 8:17. Tomorrow and Saturday should be good!

I notice 8 circling above my house around 7:15 pm. I got excited. I didn't know there were thousands "next door".
Thanks for sharing this, Anne.
Will be on the look out tomorrow!

Quick update: March 31 there were about 700 and today (April 1) there were about 500, all in the chimney by about 8:20. Jerry and Marie, I think you picked the best day to come, because it may slack off from here out. Of course, you never know! I won't get to monitor it for a few days.
